Marion Sondermann Scholarship
For Political Science or Economic majors who have completed a minimum of 30 hours, at least 9 hours of which are Political Science or Economics, and 6 hours in the other field (Political Science or Economics). Qualified students must also have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and a 3.5 GPA in Political Science or Economics, be enrolled in at least 9 hours, and submit a FAFSA by March 1st. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded.
One merit-based scholarship will be awarded per academic year. Please review the requirements below:
- Declared major in either Political Science or Economics.
- Must have completed a minimum of nine (9) credit hours of course work in one discipline (Political Science or Economics) and at least six (6) credit hours of course work in the other (Political Science or Economics).
- Must have completed a minimum of forty-five (45) semester hours overall.
- Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum grade point average of 3.5 in either Political Science or Economics.
- Must be enrolled at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for a least nine (9) credit hours during any semester in which they receive the award.
- Is required to have or place a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the Office of Financial Aid.
To apply:
Please submit a universal application and a letter of application (addressed to the Political Science and Economics departments) stating your accomplishments and career goals to the Office of Financial Aid/Student Employment. The letters will be reviewed by the Political Science and Economics department Chairs and the Dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The winner will be notified following the determination of the selection committee.
This is a merit-based scholarship, awarded without regard to race, ethnicity, gender or religion.

The Jim and Norma Null Scholarship
The Jim and Norma Null Scholarship is for undergraduate political science majors who will have junior or senior class standing by fall. This scholarship is awarded based upon academic merit and recipients must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.5 political science GPA. Preference will be given to students aspiring to continue their political science education at the graduate level and who show an interest in giving back to their local community. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.
Robert S. and Barbara R. Lorch Political Science Scholarship
The Robert and Barbara Lorch Scholarship is for undergraduate political science majors who have completed at least 15 credit hours of Political Science course work at UCCS. Eligible students must have junior or senior class standing by fall and enroll as a full-time student. This scholarship is awarded based upon academic merit and recipients must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and a 3.5 political science GPA. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.
One merit-based scholarship will be awarded per academic year. Please review the requirements below:
- Declared undergraduate Political Science major
- Junior or Senior standing in Fall of year to be awarded
- Overall GPA of at least 3.2
- Political Science GPA of at least 3.5
- Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student
- Submission of a written application comprised of:
- Written statement of academic and career goals
- Résumé
- Unofficial transcript
The scholarship will be for one academic year only. Awardees may not reapply for continued funding.
All applications must be submitted to the Chairperson of the Political Science Department.
Feld Memorial Scholarship
The Werner and Elizabeth Feld Memorial Scholarship is for undergraduate political science majors who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to the field of Political Science. Eligible students must have junior or senior class standing by fall and enroll in at least nine credit hours for the fall and spring semesters. This scholarship is awarded based upon academic merit. The typical award is $1,500.
